Terms of Service
These terms set out what Lodestar Clinic will do for you, what it will not do, and what we each agree to. Please read them before booking. By making a booking you accept these terms.
1. Who we are
Lodestar Clinic is a trading name of Stellarix Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 06620950, registered office 20-22 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU.
Contact: hello@lodestarclinic.co.uk
Clinical services are provided by Lasun Sosanya, an Advanced Musculoskeletal and Rheumatology Practitioner registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, registration number PH78564.
2. What we provide
We provide two services:
- An independent knee injection suitability assessment. A one hour consultation, by secure video or in person at your home, in which we review your history, symptoms, examination findings and any imaging you provide, and give you an honest professional opinion on whether an injection is likely to help you, and if so which type merits consideration.
- Post injection rehabilitation. Structured rehabilitation to support recovery, whether or not the injection was arranged through anyone connected with us.
Each assessment includes a written recommendation which is yours to keep, and to share with your GP, consultant or any clinic you choose.
3. Our independence
We do not perform injections, and we accept no referral fees, commission or payment of any kind from any clinic, practitioner, manufacturer or provider.
Our fee is the same whether we conclude that an injection is suitable for you or that it is not. We have no financial interest in your decision, and that is the entire basis of the service.
If we suggest you consider a particular treatment or provider, we earn nothing from that suggestion. We do not pass your details to any provider unless you ask us to.
4. What this service is not
To be clear about the limits of what we offer:
- We do not provide the injection itself. If you decide to proceed, you will arrange that with a treating clinician, who will carry out their own assessment and consent process and will be responsible for that treatment.
- We do not replace your GP or consultant, and we do not take over responsibility for your overall medical care.
- We do not prescribe medication.
- We are not an emergency service. If you are seriously unwell, in severe pain, or your knee is hot, swollen and painful with fever, contact your GP, NHS 111, or attend an emergency department. Do not wait for an appointment with us.
- We cannot guarantee an outcome. An opinion that an injection may help is a professional judgement based on evidence and your individual presentation. It is not a promise of a result.
5. Eligibility
Our service is for adults aged 18 and over. You must be able to give informed consent for yourself, or be accompanied by someone lawfully able to do so.
Video assessments are available anywhere. Home assessments are available across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, London, Essex and Oxfordshire, and further afield by arrangement.
We may decline or discontinue an appointment where we consider the service is not clinically appropriate for you, where we cannot safely assess you remotely, or where behaviour towards us is abusive or threatening.
6. Booking and fees
Our current fees are:
- Video assessment — £175
- Home assessment — £295
- Rehabilitation, initial session — £95
- Rehabilitation, follow up session — £65
Fees are fixed for the service described and are payable at the time of booking. Fees may change from time to time, but the fee shown when you book is the fee you pay for that appointment.
Medical services of this kind are generally exempt from VAT.
7. Cancellations, rescheduling and lateness
- You may cancel or reschedule with at least 48 hours' notice for a full refund or a new appointment at no charge.
- Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice, or non attendance, may be charged in full, because the appointment time has been reserved for you and cannot reasonably be filled.
- If you are late, we will do our best to see you, but the appointment may need to end at its scheduled time.
- If we need to cancel or reschedule, we will offer you the earliest alternative appointment, or a full refund if you prefer.
We will always consider genuine emergencies and illness sympathetically.
8. Home visits
For a home assessment we ask that you provide a reasonably private space, a chair or bed on which you can be examined comfortably, and safe access. Please tell us in advance of anything affecting safe access, such as a dog, stairs or parking restrictions. We may decline to proceed where we consider the environment unsafe, and in that case we will offer a video appointment or a refund.
9. Video appointments
You will need a reliable internet connection and a device with a working camera and microphone, in a private, well lit space where you can move and, if asked, show your knee. If a technical failure on our side prevents the appointment going ahead, we will reschedule or refund. A remote assessment has inherent limitations, and where we consider we cannot reach a safe conclusion remotely, we will tell you and discuss the options.
10. Your responsibilities
The quality of our opinion depends on the accuracy of what you tell us. You agree to:
- Give complete and accurate information about your health, symptoms, medications and medical history.
- Share relevant imaging reports and clinical letters where you have them, before your appointment where possible.
- Tell us about any allergies, bleeding disorders, anticoagulant medication, diabetes, infection or immune conditions.
- Discuss our recommendation with your GP or treating clinician before acting on it, where appropriate.
We cannot be responsible for an opinion that proves inappropriate because it was based on incomplete or inaccurate information.
11. Professional standing and insurance
Our clinician is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and practises in accordance with its standards of conduct, performance and ethics, and holds professional indemnity insurance as required by law.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Subject to that:
- We are not responsible for the acts, omissions or outcomes of any other clinician, clinic or provider who treats you, including any who carry out an injection. They are independently responsible for their own assessment, consent process and treatment.
- We are not liable for loss arising from information you did not give us, or gave inaccurately.
- We are not liable for business losses, loss of profit, or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
13. Your records and privacy
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Notice, which forms part of these terms. Consultations are not recorded unless you and we both agree in advance and this is documented.
14. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of the service, please tell us at hello@lodestarclinic.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint within five working days and aim to respond fully within 20 working days. If you remain dissatisfied, you may raise the matter with the Health and Care Professions Council.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your appointment are those published when you booked.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
